Mary was born in 1840. She was the daughter of James Beck and Lurainy or Lewrainy Gilbert. She passed away in 1939. [1]
Mary was buried on Jan 1, 1940, in Providence Cemetery, Lawrence Co Al. There is no tombstone. She suffered with crippling arthritis. [2]
Final Rites Held For Miss Mary Beck
Funeral rites for Miss Mary Beck, 99, one of the oldest and best known residents of Lawrence County, were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the residence of her niece, Miss Flossie Sanderson in Town Creek. Miss Beck died at the Sanderson home at 9:40 Sunday morning.
Rev L. W. Usry and Rev. Glen Cornelius officiated at the final rites and Brown, of Decatur, was in charge of burial in Providence Cemetery, near Hatton.
Miss Beck was born in Tuscaloosa in 1840 but lived in Lawrence county for 75 years. She was a long time member of the Baptist church. Several nieces and nephews survive. [3]
