Biography

John was born about 1831. He passed away after 1911.

Research Notes

• I am working on the assumption that John is the brother of William Beckett.
• I am basing this assumption on the fact that John lives with William and his wife Louisa in the 1851 Census of Canada East, Canada West, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia; they are around the same age (so William can't be his father) and they share the same last name.
• John is listed as single and an apprentice (to William as a carpenter?).
• In 1861 William and his wife Louisa have moved to Picton and John is married and living with his wife Ellen in Perth, Lanark.
• He could also be a nephew to William but I haven't identified William's parents or any other siblings.
