Biography

Charles Bedingfield was baptized 13 September 1660. He was a younger son of Philip Bedingfield and Ursula Potts.^[1]

Charles was admitted to Emmanuel College Cambridge on 1 May 1678^[2]

Charles inherited the Swatshall estates in Gislingham, which had been his fathers, and is alleged to have rebuilt the manor house, Swatshough Hall ( later called Swattisfield ). He was styled "of Ghislingham, Suffolk".

He married Agnita, daughter and co-heir of Sir William Cooke Bt. of Broom Hall at Broome on 9 January 1693.^{[3] [4]}

Charles and Agnita Bedingham had children, including a son Charles who was apprenticed 1713 in London to the Grocers Company,^[5] and a son Philip who was apprenticed in 1718 as a surgeon in Suffolk.^[6]

Charles Bedingfield died at age 89 on 14 August 1750 and was buried the next day at Gislingham.^{[2] [7]}

His Swatshall estates in Gislingham passed to his eldest son, William Bedingfield.
