Biography

MARLOWE W BEIS was born on February 25, 1920 in Seneca, Ohio, United States. He is the son of FLOYD M. BEIS and EMMA E WENNER. Marlowe graduated from Tiffin Columbian High School in 1937 and Tiffin University in 1939.

An Army veteran of World War II, he served from 1943 to 1946 in the South Pacific, the Philippines, and Okinawa. He was discharged as a Captain A.G.D. in 1946.

Marlowe married Margaret Loretta Killeen "Rita" in an Army chapel at Fort Jackson, SC. They were married for 31 years. He retired in 1984 from Schenectady General Electric as a financial analyst with 45 years service. He was predeceased by his wife, Rita and his son, MARK BEIS. Survivors include: four Daughters and three sons: SUSAN HANSEN (Detlef) of W. Rutland, VT, TINA GLEASON (Rick) of West Glenville, BARBARA BEIS of Clifton Park, and CONSTANCE BEIS of Glenville; MARLOWE E BEIS (Deborah) of Grand Island, STEPHEN C BEIS (Niki) of Palmetto, FL, and MARTIN A BEIS (Caitlin Montgomery) of Hubbardton, VT.

An avid outdoorsman, Marlowe enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as golf, basketball, softball, and tennis. He was a member of the Annie Schaeffer Golf League, the West Albany Rod & Gun Club, and the G.E. Quarter Century Club.

Marlowe died 17 JUN 2013 in Niskayuna, Schenectady, New York. Rita died 29 OCT 1974 in Schenectady, New York. Marlowe and Rita are buried in Memory Gardens in Colonie, NY.
