William Alfred (as he was know in the forces) age 17 Attestation 15 May 1899, 5th Battalion The Rifle Brigade Regiment, soldier number 4809. Militia service records 1806-1915.

Alfred served two wars, was a Regimental Sargent Major. He received a Military Medal while in The Royal Horse Artillery (owned his own horse for awhile).
