PFC Everett Belt Jr was Killed in Action at Pearl Harbor aboard the USS Arizona during World War II.
Everett Ray Belt Jr. was born in Topeka, Kansas, in 1917, to Everett Belt, a railroad accountant, and Margaret Puckett Belt, a homemaker.
The family soon moved to Missouri. The 1940 Census, conducted in the spring, identified him as a salesman at a building store.
He enlisted in the Marines that August 1940 and was a private first class on the U.S.S. Arizona when he was killed in the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Dec. 7, 1941.
At least two siblings also served in World War II -- William in the Navy and Donald in the Marines.
