Biography

Anna Bemis was born on September 30, 1736, in Weston, MIddlesex, Massachusetts^[1].

George Munroe married Anna Bemis, (daughter of John and Hannah of Weston) in Watertown on 30 March 1758.^[2].

George and Anna Munroe settled in Lexington where they had:^[3][4]

• Thaddeus, b. 26 Apr 1762, bp. 2 May 1762
• Abigail, bp. 26 July 1767, m. Joseph Blodgett in 1788
• Hannah, bp. 24 May 1772, m. Bela Rice before 1791
• Hephzibah, bp. 17 Sep 1775, m. Joshua Wyman 1791, then ___Daniels.

George was a soldier of the Revolution and was killed in action at the Battle of Monmouth, New Jersey, on 28 June 1778, slain "by the same cannon ball which killed his kinsman Capt. Edmund Munroe."^[3]

Anna died 8 Mar 1815, aged 78^[3], which calculates to her having been born in 1736. That is strong evidence that she, rather than a different Anna born 4 July 1730 in Watertown to Jonathan and Anna Livermore Bemis, is the Anna who married George Munroe.
