Biography
According to the court file in Wilson & Bennett v. Heirs of Richard Bennett, Richard Bennett died in 1840 without a will. His son John H. Bennett was among his heirs but was outside the jurisdiction of the courts of Virginia being a resident of North Carolina at the time.[1]
