Daniel Bennett, son and fourth child of John and Ann Collins Bennett of Falfield Greenm Falfield, Gloustershire, England, was born February 19,1777 and died March 12, 1813.
He left his home in Falfield Green, February 14, 1802 and reached New York some time in April. He came by sailboat to Albany and from there tramped westward through heavily wooded and sparcely settled country, looking for work.
He found employment with a well-to-do farmer named (Thomas) Titus Rushmore, who owned the farm at the foot of what is now known as Cemetery Hill near New Salem, Albany County.
About two years later he married the daughter of his employer, Abigail Rushmore, born April 15, 1782, died October 27, 1848.[1]
He is buried in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, New Salem, Albany County, New York, USA.[2]
