Biography
David Bennett, son of John Bennett, married Mary Wight, daughter of George Wight, at Warwick, Rhode Island, on 26 July 1772.[1]
David Bennett of Kent County, Rhode Island, was a soldier in the Revolutionary War, serving as a private in the Massachusetts militia. He received a pension of $63.33 annually, beginning in 1831 when he was age 86.[2] After his death, Mary Bennett, widow of David, continued to receive the pension (at a rate of $31.66 every six months) as his widow until at least 1843.[3]
The gravestone of David Bennett in the David Bennett Lot on Cowesset Rd in Warwick shows that he died "Nov. 6 1833 in the 89 year of his age."[4]
