Biography

Mary Benton (27 Apr 1710 Glastonbury, Hartford County, Connecticut - 26 May 1759). Mary was a daughter of Edward Benton (1674 - 29 Apr 1713) and Mary (Hale) Benton (20 Nov 1682 - 3 May 1756 Glastonbury, Hartford County, Connecticut), who were married at Glastonbury on 6 Oct 1702.[1]

Mary Benton married John Bartlett (18 Dec 1696 in East Guilford, New Haven, Connecticut - 6 Dec 1758 [uncertain] at about age 61 in Middlesex, Connecticut). John Bartlett and Mary (Benton) Bartlett were the parents of the following children, born in Connecticut:

  1. Mary Bartlett, born 2 Aug 1740, died 17 or 18 Nov 1764 (likely childbirth-related), married on 22 Jan 1761 to Samuel Griffin and had two children.
  2. Hannah Bartlett, born 10 Aug 1742
  3. Abigail Bartlett, born 15 May 1745
  4. John Bartlett, born 5 May 1747
  5. Ephraim Bartlett, born 2 Aug 1749, died 1776 New York (in the Revolutionary War)
  6. James Bartlett, born 29 May 1754
