Casimer was born in Poznan, Poland, Germany to Joannes Behrent and Elisabeth Froehlke. He was married to Anges Alwin in 1882 in the parish of Slupy. The family immigrated to America on the 26 Jul 1889 from Bremen to New York on the ship Rhynland. The family moved to Oshkosh and opened a saloon and boarding house. Even with prohibition the family managed to make the best of things. Their saloon was opened again once prohibition was stopped. The couple had a total of 13 children.
Obituary: Casimer Berendt of Oshkosh, owner of the Old Wisconsin House on Mill-st, died Wednesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. E. Steckbauer of Oshkosh. The deceased was 73 years of age. Surviving him are his widow, seven daughters and two sons. Funeral services were held from St. Vincent church, Oshkosh, Saturday morning. Burial took place in the Oshkosh cemetery.
