A Country House 1841 Pilton, Devon
James Whyte 65+, Frances 60+ and five children aged 15 to 30+ are together at Pilton House, served by six domestics living in, and no doubt others outdoors or working as needed. Although James is described as independent rather than Landowner, farmer or magistrate, documents in the property show that he was the landowner.[5]
Family in Bristol 1851
In 1851 James and Frances Whyte were in their seventies, but both alive in 6 Carlton Place, Bristol, Gloucestershire with a daughter, Selina 43, a daughter-in-law Mabella 29, and three grandchildren.
Their wealth is shown by six servants living in. [6]
Death 1860 London
Frances died in fashionable London early in 1860: She was 82 years old. [7]
Research
Much of this information is based on Burke (op cit) with no more direct resort to original sources, which would clearly be desirable.
For example if the date of her parent's marriage and the date of her own birth are both accurate, she can neither be her father's fifth child, nor her mother's fifth child.
