Biography

The daughter of Robert L. Berry (1845-1916) and Emma A. Turner (1853-1932), Kitty was born in Clinton County in 1873.[1] Her parents were both from New York, and they made their way across Michigan; in 1800, they lived in Corunna, in Shiawassee County, where her father worked as a laborer.[2] She came from a large family:

Kitty married Charles Stevens in Owosso, Michigan on February 26, 1891.[3] They settled in Sherman Township, in Mason County, where Charles worked as a farm laborer.[4][5] By 1920, they had acquired land in Sherman to farm on their own account.[6] Fleeta's and Charles' children included:

  2. Gladys (1894-)
  3. Frank (1895-)
  4. Irma Glenora (1898-1952)
  5. Adah Marie (1902-1987)

Kitty passed away from the effects of pneumonia at the age of 51[7] and she is buried at Brookside Cemetery in Scottville, Michigan, in Mason County.[8]
