Note on Date of Death

It was the first spouse of Rebecca Farnum (Obadiah Holt) who died in the Kennebec in 1739.

Biography

Joseph Berry was the eldest son of John and Rachel (-) Berry.[1]

Joseph Berry was first married to Sarah (Unknown) and second married to Rebecca Farnum (widow of Obadiah Holt).[2] He died at Middleton about 1757 (probate 8 January 1758).[3]

Joseph had seven children with his first wife Sarah and two children with his second wife Rebecca.

Probate

In his will written 13 October 1757, Joseph Berry bequeathed to his beloved wife Rebecca a lengthy list of annual provisions to be provided annually by the executor. Son Bartholomew receives all the lands in Andover and Middleton. Bartholomew also receives the stock animals. Son John receives twenty-five pounds to be paid at age twenty-one. Daughter Sarah Parker receives five shillings as does daughter Hannah Foster. Daughter Mary receives five shillings. Daughter Abigail receives the indoor movables plus six pounds, thirteen shillings, four pence to be paid at the time of marriage or age twenty-one. Son Bartholomew was named executor.[4]

Joseph was born before 1695. He was the son of John Berry and Rachel Unknown. He passed away about 1757 (probate 8 Jan 1758)
