Mary, daughter of Romanzo Elliott "Rome" Best and Mina Sophia Moore, was born in November 1894 in Ogemaw County, Michigan.^[1]

1900 owned farm in Richland Township, Ogemaw, Michigan Romanzo Best (age 42, farmer) Mina S. Best (36, mother of 10, eight living), Zina Leonard (16), Martha Louise (14), Clyde Elliott (12), Benjamin Oakley (11), Edith May (7), Mary J. (6), Anson Wilber (2) and Agnes (1).^[1]
