Wade was born about 1889. He passed away about 1936.
This is Wade Hampton Bethune, born 8 May 1889 in Mullins, Marion County, South Carolina, and died 28 Aug 1936 in Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia. He was the son of William Atlas Bethune and his wife, Mary Elizabeth Tarte. One of his siblings was Ward Beecher Bethune, born in 1894, who is also buried in this cemetery. Wade married Mettie Anna Collins on 15 Oct 1911, probably in Emanuel, Georgia, and they had two children, Raymond Julian Bethune, born in 1914, and Marguerite Bethune, born in 1919. Sometime around 1929, Wade and Mettie divorced, as by the census of 1930, Wade is listed as living as a roomer in Augusta. He lists widowed, but Mettie and her daughter, Marguerite, are living in Florence, South Carolina in the Census of 1932 and Mettie lists herself as divorced. Their son Raymond Julian Bethune is living with his father in the same rooming house in Augusta in 1930. However, Wade then married Ruby O'Tyson sometime in about 1930, as their son Raymond Edward Bethune was born in 1930, followed by Wade Hampton Bethune in 1932 and Cleveland Ward Bethune in 1934. All of Wade Sr and Ruby Bethune's children were living with their older and by now married stepsister Marguerite Bethune Shores and her husband, John Henry Shores, in the Census of 1940, which finds this household in Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia. Ruby remarried to James H. Ray and in 1945 was living with her second husband in Duval, Florida. (Shared by Patricia Mccarron)
