Biography

Emily was born on 28 December 1853 in Calhoun County, Mississippi.[1]

When Emily was 19 she married James Ballard Smith on 3 January 1873 in Calhoun, Mississippi. The couple had 9 children: James Robert Sr Smith, Mary Elizabeth Smith, William Thomas Smith, Nora G Smith, Ella Victoria Smith, Walter Jerome Smith, Ernest Marvin Smith, Joseph Lonnie Smith and Eddie Leslie Smith.[2]

In the 1900 census Emily (age 46) was living in Pittsboro Town, Calhoun, Mississippi.[1]

In the 1910 census Emily (age 56) was living in Beat 1, Calhoun, Mississippi.[3]

In the 1920 census Emily (age 66) was living in Beat 1, Calhoun, Mississippi.[4]

She passed away in 1939.
