Biography
Thomas Edwards Betts was born April 16, 1860 in Walsall, Staffordshire, England to John Edward Betts and Mary Edge. He emigrated to the United States in 1879 or before. Thomas was naturalized as a United States citizen September 15, 1894 in Mahoning County (likely Youngstown), Ohio. He was married to Elizabeth Eliza Hedglin. They had at least 6 children: Ellen, Addison, Thomas E, Minnie May, Leroy, and Earl. Thomas worked as a pastor for 20 years. He passed away in 1930 at the age of 69 from what was listed as a perforated gastric ulcer.
