SATURDAY, DECEMBER 28, 1907. ACCIDENT.—A narrow escape from severe accident occurred on Saturday morning last, when George Bewley, guard of No, 9 train (paper train) from Clyde to Wallera-wang, whilst walking in the six-feet way at Penrith Station in the exercise of his duty, was knocked down by the buffer of the mail train when coming in. He was at once attended to by Dr Higgins, who found the unfortunate man had his collarbone broken and had received many bruises. Bewley, who is a Sydney guard, behaved admirably under the circumstances and was sent on to his home by the "Fish" train leaving Penrith at 6.6. We may expect to hear of him resuming work in a few weeks. TROVE [1]
