Private Abel Billings served with Middlesex County Militia, Massachusetts Militia during the American Revolution.

Abel Billings; b. Feb 16, 1757 at Lincoln, MIddlesex, Massachusetts^[1]; Marriage banns for him and Elizabeth Farrar were published May 20, 1780 at Lincoln, Middlesex, Massachusetts; d. Dec 5, 1832 at Brooksville, Hancock, Maine, at age 75; d. Oct 27, 1833 at age 76; he was buried at Settlers Rest Cemetery, Sedgwick, Hancock, Maine. ^{[2] [3]} A soldier in the Revolutionary War, he was present at the battle of Lexington.^[4] He also helped organize a company of "minute men" in Sedgwick during the War of 1812. He appeared on the census of 1830 at Sedgwick, Hancock, Maine.
