Biography
Margaret was born about 1849. She married 23 Jan 1872 Edward John Brockett at her home, Port Elizabeth, by the Baptist Minister, he aged 25, Bachelor, Shop Assistant, she aged 23, Spinster, both residing PE; signatures of both.[1] She passed away at 31 Ivy Terrace, Port Elizabeth, 12 May 1921, aged 73, buried in St George’s Park Cemetery.[2] The probate certificate said she had worked as a Shop Assistant. It listed 4 surviving children, all majors: Herbert Charles Brockett, Lily (or Lizzie) Edith Tookey Weddell (born Brockett), Ethel Jane Burgess (born Brockett), William Edward Brockett (who signed as "present after death" on 18 May 1921).
