The inscription reads Sacred to the memory of Fitzgerald Bird M.D. He was born at the Shoals of Ogeechee in Warren County, Georgia on the 7th December AD 1800. He died at Fort Hull, Alabama on the 3rd of April AD 1833. These remains were removed to this spot from their original sepulchre at Fort Hull on the 7th August AD 1842. His bereaved sisters have erected this monument to the memory of their beloved brother as a testimony of their sincere affection for him while living and of their deep grief at his untimely and melancholy fate.[1]
