Biography

One son of Solomon Elias Birk & Necke Gelle Birk did not go to North America, according to family photos passed down to two descendants. Sources suggest (but do not prove) that Borukh is the son who remained in Lithuania after his siblings left. It is possible that Borukh later perished in the Holocaust, because his name and his wife Dine Kiel Birk's name are on a 1941 list of Jewish residents in Latvia, posted on Yad Vashem.

Last definite source of Boruch in Gargadai is Lithuania Tax & Voters List, residence on 16 April 1901. Possibly same Boruch Birk in list of Jewish residents of Latvia, on Yad Vashem, showing wife as Dine Kiel Birk, living at Liela 10 in Vainode, Liepajas, Kurzeme, Latvia, occ: meat dealer. Boruch and Dine had two children, Oseris and Girsas. No sources, no later info.
