Biography
Emily was born on the 9 August 1857 in New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand the daughter of early settler Walter Bishop and Ellen (Loveridge) Bishop. Emily was one of 16 children. In 1885 she married John William Astle of Nelson, New Zealand. Emily had no children during her marriage.
On 2 July 1956 Emily Astle passed away, aged 98. [1] She is buried at Wakapuaka Cemetery, in Nelson, New Zealand.[2]
