Rhoda Frances Bishop was the first child from the marriage of John Bishop and Harriet Araminta Ingpen that took place on 17 December 1818. ^[1] She was born on 11 November 1819 and baptised on 8 December 1819 at St Andrew, Holborn. ^[2]

Rhoda married Radcliffe John Abbot on 21 March 1839 at Saint Pancras, London. ^[3] Their address was recorded as Howland Street, Saint Pancras. In the Parish Marriage record, both the Bride's Father and the Groom's Father show an address at Howland Street. Perhaps the Bride and Groom lived on the same street prior to becoming acquainted.

Rhoda gave birth to their first and only child, Radcliffe Staunton Abbot on 2 November 1839 and had him baptised on 4 December 1839.

Son's Baptism Entry

Rhoda was married for a year, then tragically her husband died Rhoda was a 21-year-old widow with a four-month-old infant son.^[4]Radcliff Abbot Senior was buried on 1 April 1840 at St Andrew's Church in Holborn.^[5]

In the 1841 Census, Rhoda was recorded under the name of Francis Abbot (her middle name was Frances). This appeared to be Rhoda, because her one-year-old son Radcliff was with her and because they were both residing at Howland Street, St Pancras.^[6]
