Biography

Rachel was the second child in a family of nine, was five feet eight inches tall and weighed 120 pounds. She had beautiful red hair, soft delicate skin, and was regal in her bearing. A spirited and lovely woman, efficient in everything she undertook, she met life's problems with undaunted courage. The first years of her life were spent in Orderville, Utah; than the family moved to Old Mexico. She passed away at the birth of her fourteenth child.

Rachel Ann Black Porter was born on March 8, 1863 at Ephraim, Sanpete County, Utah to William Morley Black and Annie Mariah Hansen. Rachel Ann Black married Omni Lehi Porter possibly at Orderville, Kane County, Utah. Omni Lehi Porter died on Nov. 22, 1877 at Orderville, Kane County, Utah. Rachel Ann Black married Warriner Ahaz Porter on April 23, 1879 at St. George, Washington County, Utah.
