Type: Birth
Date: 1846
Place: Cranbrook, Kent, England
Note: I have had great difficulty in sorting out this Sims as it appeared there were three children born in the same year, then I noticed the Sims who emigrated to America had the Initial E and it dawned on me that he has been named Edward in one census and Sims in another. I also think he was a twin as Caroline was born in the same year and month.

Note: Blackman, Sims E. (27 MAR 1846 - 6 JUL 1900)
Sims E. Blackman, one of the oldest residents of this county (Clark) died at his home in the town of Grant last Friday night, after a ten days illness, pneumonia being the cause of his death. He had been ailing for some time and had not the strength to withstand the attack of the malady, though all in the power of medical skill and the care of loving relatives and friends was done to ward off the grim destroyer.
Deceased was born in Beneden, Kent, Eng., Mar. 27, 1846 and came to America in 1871 and settled in Clark County after a short sojourn in New York. He was married to Miss Mary Howard Dec. 3, 1878. Six children, Ralph, Lottie, Evelyn, Elgia, Sadie and Clifford were born to them, and whom with the loving wife survives him. He also leaves three brothers and two sisters in New York and five sisters in England.
Mr. Blackman was a mason by trade and many of the brick blocks in this city are evidences of his handiwork. He built the first brick block in Neillsville, the Hewett Woods building, now Marsh Bros., the Presbyterian Church, and helped on the court house and others. He was an upright citizen and a true gentleman of the noblest class. He was honest and square with all who came within his scope and of him the highest eulogy to be said is that he had no enemies. He was a friend to one and all, ever ready to extend a helping hand to the cry of sorrow and distress. His loss will be deeply felt in the community, and the sympathy of all goes out to the grief-stricken relatives.
The funeral occurred Sunday from the Ridge Church. Rev. Scoville officiating. The assemblage of friends and neighbors attested the esteem and high regard born toward him.
The relatives desire to express their appreciation of the many kindness' extended.[1]
