Biography

Adam was born about 1789 - according to the 1841 census at Upper Holehouse, Durisdeer [1] In that census he is in the household of his brother Samuel, Samuel's wife Margaret, their children David 6, William 4 and Margaret 2

He became a merchant and remained single. He died of "natural decay" at the age 76 according to his death record which was signed by his brother Samuel. This would make his boirth year 1786, which has been used on this profile.

His name is included on the gravestone inscription of his father David Blackstock -as Adam BLACKSTOCK who died at Holehouse 17th August 1863 aged 73 years - however this does not accord with the offically registered record, which is used in this profile.
