Biography
Hannah Blake is a part of US Black heritage.
Note: This is not the same Hannah as Hannah. There were more than one Hannahs on the plantation.
Hannah was born before 1841. Blake, her enslaver's surname, is being used as her LNAB until it can be determined what her actual surname is.
In 1841, the 41 enslaved from Blakely Plantation, Leon County, Florida were listed in the Chancery court paperwork on Miles Blake (1785-1840), their deceased enslaver. His heirs, Susan (Parish) Blake (1809-1868), Joel Clifton Blake (1831-1863) and John Henry Blake (1832-1901), were petitioning the court for an equitable division of the slaves, which included Hannah. It is not yet known who received which slaves.[1]
