Biography

US Black Heritage Project
Ann Blake is a part of US Black heritage.

Note: This is not the same person as Ann Blake. There were several women named Ann on the plantation.

Ann was born before 1841. Blake, her enslaver's surname, is being used as her LNAB until it can be determined what her actual surname is.

In 1841, the 41 enslaved from Blakely Plantation, Leon County, Florida were listed in the Chancery court paperwork on Miles Blake (1785-1840), their deceased enslaver. His heirs, Susan (Parish) Blake (1809-1868), Joel Clifton Blake (1831-1863) and John Henry Blake (1832-1901), were petitioning the court for an equitable division of the slaves, which included Ann. It is not yet known who received which slaves.[1]
