Biography

Hannah was born in 1681 to John Blakeslee and Grace Ventrus in New Haven.

In about 1706, Anna married Moses Sperry in New Haven. They had at least nine children.

In 1713, Anna's father passed away and left her a considerable bequest (see the summary of his will below).

In 1741, Anna passed away in New Haven.

MOSES^3 SPERRY (Richard^2 , Richard^1 ), b. Jan. 7, 1681, m. Jan. 1, 1705, at New Haven, Ct., Hannah^3—afterwards called Anna—Blakely (John^2, Samuel^1), b. Aug. 6, 1681; d. June 2, 1741. (See Tuttle Family, p. 684.)

Some of their children:

i. ISRAEL^4, a tailor, m. in Wallingford, Ct. His descendents are prominent and numerous in Northern California, in big timber and milling interests, and also at Montecito and Los Angeles.
ii. MOSES, m. Anna Johnson.
iii. AARON, who has many descendents at Fresno, Lathrop, French Creek, and other places in California; and by Aaron^5, and Moses^6, Lorenzo^7, a lawyer, who m. Charlotte Crittendon, Chili, N.Y.; they had Myron^8, of Chili, a son in Jacksonville, Fla., and Elvira (Mrs. McKnight, Oakwood, Mich.)

Anna's father's will is dated March 7, 1712-13, and includes the following bequests and instructions for Anna:

4th ly as to what remains of my personal Estate after Just Debts and Legacyes are paid my will is that it be Equally Divided between my Sons John & Moses and Anna Sperry the wife of Moses Sperry, further my will is that what I have given to my two Sons as also to my Daughters shall be to them and their heirs forever, also my will is that my two sons shall have all my Rights in Commonage in New Haven to them their heirs and assigns for Ever.
The inventory amounted to £527, 10s, 1d.
