Biography

Florence A. Blanchard was born in 1853. She was the daughter of Judson Blanchard and Malvina Blanchard. Florence lost her mother when she was only 5 or 6 years old, and she was placed at least for a time with a family in the area.^[1]

She married her third cousin, Edgar Blanchard, 31 Dec. 1869. It was a double wedding with her sister Alice.^[2] While the marriage record gives her age at 19, it is more likely (in consideration of other records, including censuses) that she was 16. Edgar was the son of William Wallace Blanchard and Freelove Perkins.

In 1871, Florence and Edgar were recorded together in Potton, Quebec,^[3] living with Edgar's step-father and mother, James and Freelove Darling, as well as his sister Josette.

Florence passed away on 17 Apr. 1872 at the age of 18.^[4] It is not known whether Edgar and Florence had settled briefly in Lowell, Massachusetts or whether Florence was visiting there with her sister Alice at the time of her passing.
