Biography

Bruce was born about 1849. In 1850 "Daniel B." is 10 months old, born in Missouri, as was his mother, Susan E., age 19. His father, Cornelius, age 35, was born in NY and works as a house carpenter.[1]

In 1870, "Bruce D." is living and working on the John Waggner farm in Camp Branch, Cass county, Missouri. His age is given as 21 and he has a personal estate of $400. [2]

In 1880, he is listed as "Daniel Bruce" on his daughter's birth certificate. In the census, "D.B" age32, is a farmer & living in the farm household of a 58 yr old widow, L. Miller, and her children. His wife, "D.A." and their 4 month old daughter, "M.E." also live there.[3]

In the 1900 census, "Daniel" owns & works a farm in Justice Precinct 3 in Lampasas county. He is age 51, born July 1848 in Missouri, where his parents were also born. He has been married 21 years to Delila A. Their 7 children live with them.[4]

In the 1910 census, "Bruce D." farms his own farm, which is free of mortgage on Adamsville Rd in Lampasas county. His age is given as 64 and he has been married only once, for 30 years. His wife and 6 of their children are living there also, with the only boy at home working as farm labor while also going to school. No occupation is given for the girls too old for school.[5]

"Daniel Bruce" passed away about 1928; his tombstone gives October 8,1928. He was buried in Center Cemetery, Lampasas. [6]
