Blethen-16 and Blethyn-14 do not represent the same person because: The reference given seems to imply the surname may have been BLEVENS from Virginia while the other surname seems to be Blethens from Massachusetts.. They can not be merged just yet with out further research.

It seems we are talking about two different surnames in two different locations. Blevins in Virginia and Blethens in Massachusetts. I descend from Blethens from Massachusetts. I can't merge these two men as I don't think they are the same. Further research work needs to be done to confirm they are the same person which I seriously doubt.

I researched John Blethen b. 1632 or 1646 on myheritage.com and

Familysearch.org No consistency of birth date or parents. Only US sources. It's as though he arrived by birth or boat in MA with nothing more than a name to his name, LOL.

Blethen-16 and Blethyn-14 appear to represent the same person because: See especially p. 21 of the source below as well as the bio of James Blethyn, father of John Blethen/Blethyn

https://books.google.com/books?id=7Q5QAAAAQBAJ&pg=PT30&lpg=PT30&dq=William+Blethyn+and+Elizabeth+Morgan&source=bl&ots=9k3djXavrP&sig=9FcOMRA_0tJ_gelszB-L-7TKAR8&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj8iJK4mInTAhUEi1QKHb0qC2MQ6AEIQDAH#v=onepage&q=William%20Blethyn%20and%20Elizabeth%20Morgan&f=false

P.S. I adopted the profile of Blethen-14, who is a direct ancestor of my children.
