Biography

Edith was born in 1876 in East Stonehouse, Devon. Her mother's maiden name was Leaman.[1]

1881 Census on the 3rd April 1881 Edith was living at 3 Francis Street, Plymouth, Devon with her sister Bertha, and their mother Eliza.[2]

1901 Census on the 31st March 1901 Edith a schoolmistress, was living at 80 Wilton Street, Devonport, Devon with her parents Benjamin and Eliza, and her siblings Bertha, Lillian, Ethel and Florence.[3]
Edith was a School Mistress.


Edith married Edward Albert Yates Williams (1867 - 1943) on the 1st August 1907 at St Barnabas Church, Devonport, Devon. Edward was the son of Edward Wotton Williams retired, and Edith, living at 65 Amherst Street, Plymouth, Devon, was the daughter of Benjamin James Blower, Lieutenant R.N. retired, one of the witnesses. The other witnesses were Edward's brother Charles Henry Yates Williams, William Ernest Vanstone and Amy Emma Gallacher.[4]

1911 Census on the 2nd April 1911 Edith was living at 33 Ford Hill, Stoke, Davenport, Devon with her husband Edward and their sons Bernard and Francis.[5]

Edith a widow, died aged 84 on the 13th December 1960 and her death was registered in the 4th quarter 1960 in Ealing, Middlesex.[6]

Probate of Edith's estate, £163 13s. 8d., was processed on the 6th February 1961 in London and passed to her son Bernard Yates Williams an officer of the British Transport Commission.[7]
