Biography

James was born in 1901. He was the son of Johnny Bloyd and Sarah Berry. He passed away in 1988.

GREEN COUNTY KENTUCKY OBITUARY – 1988
Rev. James Harvey Bloyd, son of the late Mr. Johnny Green Bloyd & Mrs. Sally Berry Bloyd, was born July 24, 1901 in Gainesville, TX and departed this life at 9:10 a.m. Tuesday, December 20 [1988] at the Taylor County Kentucky Hospital in Campbellsville. He was 76 years, 5 months and 4 days of age. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Munfordville Separate Baptist Church at the time of his death. Rev. Bloyd announced his call to the ministry in 1934.
He served on the Presbytery Board for 35 years and also served as assistant moderator of the Nolynn Association. He preached numerous revivals throughout the surrounding counties. Rev. Bloyd has pastored at: Coral Ridge, Louisville Separate Baptist, Sand Lick, Liberty, Pleasant Ridge, Munfordville, Morning Star School House, Mt. Hope, Freedom, Bethlehem, Pleasant Grove, Coffee Grove, Zion and Saunders Chapel Churches. He united in marriage to Miss Dora Moran January 11, 1920 who survives. To this union were born 4 sons and 3 daughters. Surviving are: Mrs. Ollen Roxie Davenport, Mrs. Junior Orvella Clark, Mrs. Leon Wanda Zane Curry, Rev. Gleason Bloyd and Verlis Shorty Bloyd, all of Greensburg and 1 daughter-in-law, Mrs. Doris Bloyd, Greensburg. Charles & Arnold Bloyd preceded their father in death. Rev. Bloyd is also survived by: 1 brother, George Bloyd, Campbellsville and 1 sister, Mrs. Ida Judd, Greensburg; 20 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 22 at the Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home with burial in the Summersville Memory Gardens. Revs. Jimmy Polston, Jim Goff and Clarence Warren officiated. Pallbearers were Denny Davenport, Verlon Davenport, Wilford Davenport, Steven Clark, Mike Bloyd, Doug Bloyd, Tony Bloyd, Todd Bloyd, Roger Bloyd, Joe Bloyd, David Bloyd, Eddie Bloyd and Leo Curry Jr.
