Biography

In the 1880 Taylor County Census for Oak Hill Precinct, William H. Bloyd was family 164. He was 26 years old, a Farmer, born in Kentucky as were both his parents. His wife, Nancy J., was 21. They had one 3 years old son, Henry M., age 3 years.

William and Mary moved to Oklahoma about 1900 and bought land and made a home eight miles west of Alva. Boone Bloyd owns the home place. William was a member of the United Brethren Church at Alva, Oklahoma. They had eight children.

In the 1900 Taylor County census, they were still in Kentucky. He was head of household #204 in the Oak Hill district. He and his wife have been married 24 years and Nancy is listed as the mother of 8 children, 6 living. They live two families away from his brother, Luther Frank Bloyd.

The LaRue County Herald News, Feb 14, 1901:

Mr. W. H. Bloyd, who sold his personal property at public sale last Wednesday, will leave next Monday for Woods County, Okla., where he has purchased a fine farm of valley land, containing 320 acres. His farm is eight miles west of the city of Alva.

From the LaRue County Herald News, April 17, 1902:

We received a letter from our old friend, W. H. Bloyd, of Alva, Okla., and he says that he is well satisfied and that they have good rains now. The people were made glad by a rain of eleven hours.
