Biography

Henry was baptised on 22nd December 1811 at Stanmore, Harrow. He is the son of John Bodimeade and Dorcas, formerly Fenn (or Fern). ^[1]

He married Rebecca Wood on 31st July 1831 at Harrow.

They had two children, Henry and Mary.

There is now a sense of mystery regarding the family. They cannot be found in the 1841 census, however an entry then appears on 26th October 1847 at Lambeth, where Henry, now going under the name Henry Burbage, remarries his wife. ^[2]

Three generations of Henry's descendants have been recorded with the surname Burbage between 1851 and 1901. One branch finally adopted an alternative spelling of the original surname "Bodemeaid", which is carried by the family to this day, while another seems to have continued using the name Burbage.

Could his death be the Henry Bodimeade registered December quarter of 1860 in Kensington? Can't find this in the official GRO index so can't verify his age.
