Biography

John lived and died in the Townland of Slaghbooley (spelt many ways) Kilmaley County Clare Ireland. His cottage was known as "Centre house".

His known children were as follows,

John B. Dec.1886. One of my Grandmothers older brothers became a policeman in America. Possibly this John. He said he would not wait to inherit the farm. He made the right decision!

Mary B. June 1888

Pat. Born 27 March 1891. This is possibly the Patrick who died 1942 however there were 3 Patrick Boland's in the same area born around the same time. His death cert. states he was a farmer and a Bachelor. He was the senior male in the family at that time therefore he would have been registered as "Farmer"

Bridget B. Jan 1893. Probably the Bridget who married Michael Healy August 1918.

Anne B. April 1894 (My Grandmother)

Michael "Mikey" B. Mar 1896. D1974. Never married. Mikey was the last person to live in Slaghbooley he was present at the death of his parents and Uncle. The cluster of houses never received running water or electricity and the hill was abandoned after Mikey's death.

Thomas Born Circa 1902. I have no information. He was recorded in the 1911 census. We will have to wait until the 1926 Census in released to gather more information.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:
