Biography
Sr Mary Josephine was a Loreto Nun.
Ellen was born in 1857 to Patrick Bolger and Mary Purcel . [1]
Ellen entered the Loreto Convent in Ballarat on 24 May 1878. She was the first Australian postulant novice. She took the name Sr Mary Josephine. She was 23 years a nun when she died aged 44 years. [2]
She passed away in 25 November 1901 in South Melbourne. [3] She was buried at Kew. Tombstone confirms birth year .
