Biography

Albert "Mac" Bonavita, Jr. is born 22 July 1926^[1] in Springfield, Massachusetts. He is the son of Alberto Bonavita and Maggie (Michelina) Rizzio.^[2] His obituary names his surviving siblings.^[3]

In the 1930 federal census of Agawam, taken 3 April, Albert Bonovita heads a household at 333 School St. Albert is 37 (b. 1893) and first married at age 21 (m. 1914). His wife Margaret is 33 (b. 1897) and married at 17 (m. 1914). Their children at home are Joseph, 14 (b. 1916), Delia, 12 (b. 1918), Bennie, 10 (b. 1920), Yolanda, 8 (b. 1922), Lucille, 6 (b. 1924), Albert Jr., 4 yrs and 8 mos (b. Sep 1925), Carlo, 2 yrs 1 mo. (b. Mar 1928), and Augustino, who is newborn (b. Apr 1930). Delia, Albert’s widowed mother, age 63 (b. 1867), also lives with them. Albert and his mother, Delia, were born in Italy, while Margaret and the children were all born in MA. Albert immigrated in 1910. He is a naturalized citizen. He is a retail butcher with his own business. His mother immigrated in 1916.^[4]

In 1940, Albert Bonavita, 48 (b. 1892), heads a household on Wilcox St in Springfield with his wife, Margaret, 42 (b. 1898). Albert was born in Italy, and his wife and children were born in MA. The children at home are Joseph, 23 (b. 1917), Delia, 21 (b. 1919), Benny, 20 (b. 1920), Yolanda, 17 (b. 1923), Lucy, 15 (b. 1925), Albert Jr., 12 (b. 1928), Carlo (marked "daughter"), 11 (b. 1929), Bessie, 9 (b.1931), Anthony, 7 (b. 1933), Louis, 5 (b. 1935), Michael, 4 (b. 1936). Also living with them is Albert’s mother, Delia, 73 (b. 1867), also born in Italy. Albert is a truck driver for a road construction company. Joseph is in the same occupation. Delia is a coil winder for a radio coil manufacturer, and Benny is a painter for an industrial machine manufacturer. Albert is a naturalized citizen.^[5]

Mac in a business owner. He owns Oliver's Restaurant and Lounge on West Columbus Avenue, in Springfield, from 1958 to 1964. Around this time, he moves to West Springfield. His last address is at 66 Old Barn Road.^[3]

From 1965-1980, he founds and co-owns Goodlife Construction Co. of Springfield. He also owns Life Landscaping Service, Bona Realty Co., and the Peek-In-Lounge.^[3]

Mac is married to Patricia A. Antonyk. They have three children: Steven P., Anna M., and Patricia A.^[3]

Death of Albert Jr.

Mac dies 4 May 1990 at age 63.^[3]

At his death, Mac is survived by his wife and children, and by three brothers, Benny of Agawam, Carlo of Westfield and Anthony of Springfield; and a sister, Lucille Tranghese of East Longmeadow.^[3]
