Biography

Jonas Bond, the eldest son of Jonas Bond and Hannah Bright, was born on August 10, 1726, in Watertown, Middlesex, Massachusetts.^[1]

He married on April 25, 1753 Ruth Harrington,^[2] daughter of Joseph Harrington and Martha Hastings of Watertown.^[1]

A farmer, he lived in Watertown on the old Bond homestead. When sons Leonard and Jonas died unmarried, “the ancient homestead of the progenitor of all the Bonds of Watertown” passed out of the family.^[2]

He died in 1794. [Source needed.]

Ruth died in 1819.^[2][1]

2. Leonard, b. Jan. 30, 1755: d. July 31, 1824, unm. take up arms, in 1775, in tne defence of liberty.

3. Jonas, b. Nov. 16, 1756; d. Sept. 26, 1830, unm. Upon the decease of these two bachelor brothers, who lived together upon the ancient homestead of the progenitor of all the Bonds of Watertown, the estate passed out of the possession of the name and family.

4. Hannah, b. Mar. 31, 175S ; d. 1823 ; m.. Peter Richardson, of Boston ; 2 drs.

5. Mary, b. Jan. 26, 1761 ; d July 24, 1827; m. Charles Harrington, of Newton ; 5 chil.

6. James, bap. June 3, 1764 ; d. soon.

7. Anne b. Ap. 16, 1765; m., William Hill, of W. Camb., who d. July 8, 1820, aged 50. Chil.,1. Ann, b. 1797, unm. 2. William, b. Dec 16, 1798; m. Harriet Swan, and lives on his father's homestead. 3. Jonas, Y,. June 12, 1800; m. Hannah (Brooks) Leaned, and settled in Plymouth, Conn. 4. Dennis, b. Oct. 20, 1803: m. Caroline Robertson, resides in W. Camb. 5 Infant b and d 1809.

8. Elijah, b. 1768 ; m. Russell, and about 1798, settled in Westbrook, Me., where he d. 1828.. leaving chil.

9. Dennis, b. 1769 ; d. 1793, unm.
