Charles married Rhoda Ellen (Rodie) Stephens, daughter of James Madison Stephens and Mary Anne Adams, and former wife of William Daniel in June 1869. Rhoda and William Daniel had divorced in 1867.

He died in 1913 and was buried in St. Mary Magdalene Churchyard, Croome D'Abitot, Malvern Hills District, Worcestershire, England.

Everyone will regret to hear of the death of Mr. C. W. Bonynge, which took place on Sunday, after a long illness, at Pirton Court, Worcestershire, the residence at son-in-law, Lord Deerhurst. Mr Bonynge who was born on October 5, 1838, belonged to an Irish family, and he was the son of Mr Thomas Bonynge, of Ranelagh, one of his brothers being the late Rev Dr Arthur Bonynge, Rector of Kilfarboy, County Clare.
He married in 1869 Mrs William Daniel, and it is her daughter, formerly Miss Virginia Daniel, who married Lord Deerhurst, eldest son of Lord and Lady Coventry.
Mr and Mrs Bonynge had one daughter, Louise, who married in 1892 Sir John Maxwell, and they have one daughter, Miss Helena Philae Maxwell, to whom Princess Christian stood as godmother, while H.R.H. acted in a similar capacity to Lord and Lady Deerhurst's elder daughter Miss Helena Coventry, who made her entry into Society during the last season.

In memory of Charles William Bonynge who died 17th August 1913 aged 75 years. Also of Rodie Ellen his wife daughter of James M. Stephens of Bunceton Missouri who married first William Daniel. She died 29th June 1914 aged 71 years.
