John's mother Florence died in 1899. I don't know what happened after that, but in the 1900 Federal Census John, his father and his two brothers were all listed as living at the Marion County Poor Farm. According to Boren family oral history, the State of Iowa or Marion County intervened and found new homes for all three of the young boys. John was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Schuyler Love of Wellman, Iowa. John's father, John William died in 1903. Sadly these boys were separated from each other and for many years from their older half-siblings.
It is believed that there was another child of John & Pauline, a daughter, Patty Lou, born and died in 1936.
