Mary grew up on the plains of Illinois. On 21 July 1865, she married Daniel H. Warden, a veteran of the Civil War. She became the mother of four children. In order to take advantage of the Homestead Act, she and her family arrived by wagon train on the plains of Kansas in 1871. Two years later, she was killed in an accident (gun shot wound). She was buried on her parents' homestead. She will be remembered for her resiliency and love of family.
