Biography

Charles Heinrich Bourgeois was born on 1 August 1913 in New Zealand.^[1]

During his school days he went by Charles, but he appears to have adopted the preferred name of Vincent Charles Bourgeois once attaining adulthood.

He served in WWII in the Long Range Desert Group.^[2]

Vincent died on 1 Dec 1972 in Palmerston North, Manawatu-Wanganui, New Zealand.^[3] He is buried in Kelvin Grove Cemetery, Kelvin Grove, Manawatū-Whanganui.^[4]

Research Notes

His military information shows he was separated at embarkation. A Charles Bourgeois married a Mary Margaret Kerr in 1936^[5] which could be a possibility, but spelling errors of the surname have not been checked to determine if this is a solid possibility. There is a divorce record for this marriage.^[6] There was a Vincent Bourgeois marriage in 1946 to a Dorothy Keightley^[7], this is a potential post-war marriage, but may rule out the Charles and Mary Margaret marriage.
