Abijah Bowen was born at Providence, Rhode Island, about 1720, a daughter of Jabez and Hulda (Hunt) Bowen. She married Capt. John Crawford (the younger) by 1742 -- the birth year of their first recorded child; widowed by the loss of her husband at sea at the close of 1746, she never remarried, and she died at Providence in late September of 1774.
While the sources cited do not offer an exact birthdate for Abijah Bowen (and possibly the 6 August date is a christening), the broadside held by the Rhode Island Historical Society memorializing Abijah and her husband (see Sources) gives her age at the time of her death in September, 1774, as 55. If this is a rounding up of "55th year", it supports a birth in 1720; if not, then she was likely born in 1719.
