The Chignecto Post (Sackville NB) carried the following on March 8 1894:
J.P. Bowes s/o late Edward T. Bowes, founder of the 'Borderer' died of parosis [sic] at Providence, R.I., Tuesday 6th inst. Deceased was a printer and unmarried. He was a brother of Alonzo BOWES of Dorchester (West. Co.), F.W. BOWES, editor of the Halifax 'Echo' and Mrs. Amasa DIXON of Sackville. F.W. Bowes has gone on for the remains which are expected to reach her Monday. They will be interred in Sackville Cemetery. The funeral will be from the I.C.R. station on arrival of the afternoon express from Halifax.
