The last will & testament of Thomas Bowles of Ockahanock, Milwright.[1] was signed 20 June 1674 and admitted to probate 9 November 1674. The will lists six surviving children, none of whom were living in the area when Bowles signed his will, as he left bequests to the first son or daughter who could take possession.
“And whereas the Lord hath blessed mee with many Children six whereover are living three sons and three daughters (Viz) Will’m Bowles ye first Ann Bowles the 2d Elizabeth ye 3d Jane Bowles ye 4th Edw Bowles the 5th and Robert Bowles ye youngest I doo order give and dispose of my ? to bestow upon in manner and form following
